Now, for those pictures of Saturday's training:

This was End No. 2: just about constant angle of entry for the whole thing, until I fired that last arrow. Yeah, that one all by itself to the left. Bah. Posted by Hello

End No. 3: Constant angle of entry, but lousy grouping. Posted by Hello

Ivan Kwan attracts gay men!!

*Falls off chair laughing hysterically*

Sorry, Ivan. Just had to say that. Hahahaha....... :D

In clubroom right now, was studying today after training (I've finished my Soci readings!! Yay!!) ; about fifteen minutes ago, Ivan was checking his Friendster, and he was looking at this message that he'd received from a complete stranger who went by the name of "Tan". It said, "hi, cute hunk" and had a winking smiley on the end.

So, he clicked on the person's name just to see if he could get a picture or perhaps some info about who it was; what came up was the basic window with the person's information and stuff-- the person was male and under the "wants to meet people for:" field (or something to that effect; can't remember exactly what it said), the two things that stood out the most were:

"Relationship men" and "dating men".

*Falls off chair laughing again*

Ivan scrambled off the bench and proclaimed that Friendster was evil and that he was traumatised for life while I just sat there and laughed.

Funny thing is, the primary pic on Ivan's profile is a group picture where the only guys in it are him and Yaozhong. So, question is, which of the two guys did "Tan" think Ivan was?? Hahaha...

Tristan and I think that "Tan" probably got the right person; Ivan's the only one in that picture wearing white while everyone else is wearing black, and he's more or less in the centre of the picture, haha.

Right, anyway, it was a wonderful source of amusement for a while; we went through the guy's list of friends, and Tristan pointed out that "Tan's" friends were ALL male. Haha... And there was a 13-year-old boy among them. Which was slightly freaky. Until Ivan suggested that the kid could be "Tan's" brother or something.

Still faintly tickled by the whole thing. :D

Not much else to say.. will probably be home late again. Which I find that I don't really mind; I'd actually rather stay in school and complete whatever I have to do, etc.. speaking of which, I do have quite a lot to do in a relatively short period of time. Again.

1. EN2101E Essay, due 4/11
2. GEK1527 Bioethics Essay, due 5/11
3. SE1101E Presentation on 5/11
4. EN2101E Project Report due next week

And I still need to read a lot of stuff for exams.... crap.

Note to self: next sem, do readings EVERY week. Don't slack, damn it.

Archery training: training form!

Which means target at 5m, shooting with eyes closed. Good to know that I have a pretty consistent release! Took pics with Nicholas' phone; will upload them when he sends them over to me.

Bye for now... :)

Rain, rain, rain, that's all it ever does nowadays... Monsoon season, I suppose. I can't remember! It's been almost exactly a year since the last time I touched Geog... I kinda miss it.

But it's getting pretty cold nowadays too, thanks to the rain. And I couldn't shoot yesterday coz by the time it was 6, it looked something like it was 7.30... that's how overcast it got.

Speaking of shooting, my form is coming back! And we've established that I'm constantly hitting my arm because I'm turning my shoulder out when I draw, so that bring the release path of the bowstring closer to my arm. It's getting better now, although it still looks rather morbid. Never knew my arm could be so many colours at once.

Was shooting with Wei Zheng on Wednesday; pretty good results.. score was about average, I think, but grouping was there most of the time. Oh, and there was this one particular end, our second, I think, that amused both of us:

Purple arrows are mine, gold arrows are Wei Zheng's; pic taken (by me) using Wei Zheng's phone-- surprisingly ok resolution too, at that. Posted by Hello

When we went to retrieve our arrows, we noticed that our individual grouping for that end was similar, haha. Both of us had a grouping of four arrows in the middle of the target, one to the upper left, and one to the lower right, haha..

Was very happy last night coz I felt particularly productive. :D No training due to the weather, so I was holed up in the clubroom from 6 pm till 10.15 pm, studying Soci!

Did the same thing again today, but not so much studying coz I was helping Denise and Ivan find stuff for Exam Tea; was quite fun online shopping, though. I've never seen so many people get excited over the price of a large tin of Milo before. :P

And then Denise left, which left just myself and Ivan in the computer room, and for the one and a half hours that we were in there, Ivan was playing techno, almost non-stop. Was damn fun, but it got me jazzed as all hell, haha. Couldn't really sit down and focus on what I was supposed to be studying after a while. :P

Anyway. Sleepy now... so I shall leave you here; like the picture? It's the first time I'm using the Hello software to stick pictures on my blog, so I hope it turns out all right.

Had SE1101E lect today. Montesano. People like Montesano are the whole reason why I bought the recorder. :D

Trying to do Soci readings now. Have to finish the last three readings by today for tmw's tutorial... Crap. I finished the religion reading last night, but then when I sat down today and started reading again, I realised that there were an awful lot of pages left for just two readings.

And that was when I remembered that we'd already discussed religion last week.

Which means that I spent so much time on that religion reading, for NOTHING!

Well, not really for nothing, but I could've spent that time on the three readings that are of greater importance at this point in time!

Shit... which means that right now, I have to finish those three readings, my research and presentation for my Lit, all by tonight........

Gonna die. Again. Not gonna sleep tonight. Again.

What's new.

SE1101E Research Paper due in approximately 8 hours and counting.

Awake at this bloody early hour, going at it again. Usually, I think 9 am is a reasonable enough time to be awake, but NOT after you've hit the mattress at 5.30 am. The caffeine worked. When I combined it with techno, it worked better than usual.

My brain isn't even half awake yet, damnit. Using the music off Ivan's blog to wake me up. "Runaway"... yeah, I understand completely; that's probably what every damn NUS student feels like doing right now. "Runaway and save your life.. Runaway if you want to survive"

So. Damn. Tired.

And this isn't the bloody end of it yet. I still have to find stuff for my Lit project presentation; I'm supposed to meet my group tmw at forum to put together whatever we have-- guess what, I haven't even started any kind of Lit research.

Things which Gerri has to do:

1. SE1101E Research Paper-- due in 8 HOURS (GET OFF THE NET YOU STUPID GIRL)
2. EN2101E Project Presentation-- on 28/10
3. GEK1527 Online Quiz-- by latest 29/10
4. EN2101E Essay-- on 4/11
5. GEK1527 Bioethics Essay-- on 5/11

Absolute frigging joy. Now that sort of puts everything into perspective. I'd add studying for finals in there as well, but it's kind of a given, and there isn't really a due date or anything.

And I actually have to finish 3 readings for my Soci tut this week too, now that I think of it.

.......

Shall get back to my research paper. 7 and a half hours and counting.

In happier news, though, Gerri finally got a new pair of shoes yesterday. :) A pair of grey and maroon Skechers, with silver sparkly S's on the sides and two different pairs of laces for the shoes, one maroon and one grey. :)

Sunday, October 24, 2004

I am supposed to be writing my research paper for SE1101E which is due tomorrow. But, we all know that Gerri never does what she's supposed to do when she's supposed to do it. Hence the reason why I get into this kind of shit all the time.

"This kind of shit" refers to last-minute work, stuff that can't be completed, and stuff that I can't even *START*; take for example said research paper, which currently has my name, matriculation number, module code and title on it.

Absolute joy. What an achievement.

Felt completely useless just staring at the computer screen thinking of what to write, so I've come here to blog, under the strange, vague and thoroughly ridiculous notion that it might inspire *something*. ANYTHING. Relevant, that is. -_-

Got so boring about an hour ago that I started blasting my newly acquired techno. And the most damn stupid thing happened.

I fell asleep.

WTF?!?!!! What kind of stupid idiot manages to fall asleep with techno blasting out from the speakers just in front of her???

So, gave up. Switched off the techno. Switched to my classic and modern rock tracks. "Hallowed Be Thy Name" by Cradle of Filth is a suitably close depiction of how I'm feeling right now. If you've never heard of that song before, it's an Iron Maiden cover that has morbid lyrics and contains a lot of screaming. Now you know what I mean, no?

Just looked at my blank research paper again. Doing my paper on Indonesian art, with emphasis on wayang kulit and gamelan music. I'm just ASKING for a bloody F grade, since one of my lecturers loves Indonesian art and wayang kulit and gamelan; he'll pick my essay apart line by line and word by bloody word till there won't even be enough left to put back together, let alone fill a matchbox.

Archery training yesterday. Have decided that if I'm to be saddled with my current bow for quite some time to come, I'm going to name it "Bloodsucker". It's starting to hit me. The bowstring, that is. My left forearm looks very morbid at the moment. It looks like I took a small knife and poked viciously at various parts of it.

Ben's bow broke (again) yesterday. Well, okay, it didn't really "break"; the groove that holds the string in place just snapped off and bounced all over the floor when he shot the arrow, only this time it came off from the lower bow limb. The last time, the one on the upper limb came off.

And Zhicong's bow made the most spectacular break that I have EVER seen. The whole limb just bent and cracked and even the smooth white veneer was cracked into thin splinters. Ouch.

Friday evening was quite fun.. clubroom got all quiet and relatively deserted by about 6 pm, so I could study.. Got a bit of soci reading done, but my mind started to stray by the time it was 7. Stupid brain.

Steven had lost his wallet then too; 'course, he was worried about the documents and cards inside. It's interesting to note that in our society, it's not enough for you to just exist-- there must be documents and records to prove that you exist.

Shall get back to my research paper now. Focus....

Friday, October 22, 2004

Right, you're going to have to forgive me if this post seems rather disjointed, or goes off-track a lot; I just drank a can of Coke, and I've been blasting techno in my ears for about 20 minutes now, so basically that means sugar plus caffeine plus a lot of very loud, very hyper techno, so that really equates a to a rather hyper Gerri.

All right, did that make sense?

Even if it didn't, you get the gist of it. Anyway, if you don't like it, you can bugger off. It's MY blog! Ha! Okay. Right.

Anyway, see, yesterday Ivan re-introduced me to techno, haha... I'd forgotten how fun techno could be!

And yesterday I was downloading and playing a lot of techno on my PC, and it was the wee hours of the morning by then; which means that I was hyper, as per usual, and I was just making myself even more hyper, hahaha....

I'm going to burn a CD full of techno songs! I'll make that one of my study CDs... or maybe I'll just make it one of those CDs that'll make me sit down and do my work. Coz I might not be able to absorb very much stuff with all the loud music blasting, haha.

I have my classic rock playlist for studying, I think.

Sitting in clubroom now, in between Ivan and Greg, typing all this crap. Greg's blasting more fast music on his com, which I can only hear VERY vaguely, thanx to the earphones that I'm wired up to. Ivan's backing up the THOUSANDS of techno tracks on his lappie; don't envy him, man. Altho I'm still in awe of the fact that there're thousands of tracks there, and he knows exactly which one sounds like what and well... etc. :P

I'm startig to ramble now. Which means that I don't really have anything newsworthy to say. Either that or the loud music is just derailing my train of thought faster that usual. Anyway. Shall be off now. :D
