Woke up at ten am today. Haven't done that since... um. The day after Rag? Haha. :D
Archery training camp was fun. Well, as fun as something which is supposed to be all about "training" can get. Which really, is quite fun, actually. :D
Think it's mostly the fact that it's a rather small group of us, so there's none of the "senior-talking-down-to-junior" kinda thing/feeling. I got that vibe a lot in Guides, back in sec sch; which would've been part of the reason why I never liked it. O_O
But, anyway.
We learned during training camp that after switching to a heavier bow, Gerri's grouping and form have been completely shot to hell. Pun not intended. I was missing that 40 cm target on the first day of camp more often than I was hitting it, and goddamn, I was damn pissed off with myself.
I didn't have the "feeling" either. Y'know, that feeling when you start to draw, right up to the moment when the arrow leaves the bow; the feeling that you have some sense of where the arrow's gonna land and that it's a good shot? I never had that throughout the whole shoot on the first day. Was horrible.
Dinner at McDonalds'! I haven't eaten Mac's for ages, haha. Had a little junior-bonding-happiness there; went back to SRC after that... time for Ben's blobtag, haha. I think Qiao Hui and Ben thought I was nuts. I was bouncing up and down and saying "blobtag, blobtag" over and over in this extremely excited, barely-holding-it-in, kiddy voice. Qiao Hui was laughing at me. Not that I really cared then. Too excited to care. Although I did wonder how we were all gonna run around so much after we'd just had dinner.
Should be noted that my brain was also too excited to hold on to that thought for very long, anyway. Although it did come up again later. :P
Ben started the first round. Came after me first. Of all the people there.... -_-; Logically, getting "blobbed" so early on means more running around, see. Yes, and stupid me couldn't stop properly when I got tagged, so I fell down. I knew that was going to happen. I always fall when I play running games. Stupid feet.
Tagged Rayner next, and later on, when I was running with him, I got dragged. I.e: fell down again. Started to feel completely useless. Foot pain. Meh. Damn bloody tiring.
Concluded that blobtag,-- or any kind of running around, for that matter-- is not to be played immediately after dinner. Or after any meal.
Damn tired... slept at AS7 3rd storey with Rayner, Grace, Huiting, Adnan and Ben. Security guard almost chased us off, but he was nice and let us stay. Yay! :D Altho Ben was grumbling next morning coz the guy came back at about 6.30 to wake us up.
Fun, fun, fun...
After camp ended, had to rush down to Meridien for Thank-You Dinner... why the hell are the first two days of my holiday so bloody packed?!
Never mind, don't answer that, it's my own fault.
Anyway. They said that they'd booked the presidential suite for both the 24th and 25th MC, and I wanted to stay just to see what it was like, haha. Cheap thrill. But, was damn tired. And I wanted to sleep in my own bed, man. So, decided not to stay.
And then, when I got to the hotel and I saw the "presidential suite", I thought maybe it was a good thing that I'd decided not to stay. Haha. It was quite small. Funniest damn thing was that the bathroom took up half the suite, and the living room and bedroom took up the other half. Which means that the bathroom was the biggest room in the suite. Weird, but the bathroom was nice.
So, dinner was nice, was one of those buffet-style dinners, so it ended quite earlyl; which is a good thing. Wanted to go home and sleep!!!
Which I did... and I slept in, of course. Which brings us back to the time when I began typing this. :)

Field trip today... Went to Kranji Commonwealth War Cemetery, and as a result, am in a wonderful mood to write something.. poetic. :P
The cemetery and war memorial are built in such a way that the front section is the Christian section; all the white officers are there, that is. So you walk in, and graves stretch in both directions from this wide grassy aisle leading all the way up to the memorial, but two thirds of the way up, there's a large cross in the middle of the aisle with a round base.
See if you can visualise this: you're standing at the cemetery entrance, and there's a large stone that you have to go around with "Their Name Liveth Forevermore" engraved into it. It's sunny out, very few clouds, and the wind picks up at times. And as you're looking up the slight incline of the hill, glancing over the numerous graves, your gaze passing the large cross, moving to the memorial that dominates the backdrop of the cemetery with it's two "wings" housing walls bearing 24000 names, your gaze gets drawn back down; there's something glinting at the base of the large cross in the middle of the grassy aisle.
The wind blows again, and the glinting thing flutters; plastic wrapped around a bunch of flowers placed at the foot of the cross.
And in the cemetery, there're little flowering and non-flowering shrubs grown in between headstones, but given that they're so small, they don't catch the wind much; so right then, that fluttering plastic around a lonely bunch of flowers around the base of the large cross is the only movement in the cemetery.
And it's really quite beautiful.
And even more sadly beautiful is the fact that some of the graves don't have names; all they say is "A Soldier of the 1939-1945 War" and the epitaph below is "Known Unto God", or for the non-Christian graves, they say something like "A Soldier of the Gurkha Regiment is Honoured Here".
For those that're lucky enough to have names, the epitaphs at the bottom of the headstones are all different; and all the named officers' headstones are decorated with their respective countries' armed forces' crests or their regiment insignia.
And at the back, at the side of the cemetery, families of officers are buried there; a good number of them are just low stones set into the ground, bearing a name and a date of death-- these are for the children, the Gurkha officers' children, and the strange thing is that the standard for these low stones is that there's the child's name, and it's followed by "daughter/son of.." but there, it's usually a rank and a number. So all those stones say "'so-and-so', daughter of 'Sgt 021446735'", and it's followed by the date of death.
And there're more elaborate stones for the white officers' children; I suppose because they could afford it-- some of them are actually white marble instead of the smooth concrete used for most of the headstones in the cemetery. A lot of the children were less than five years old when they died. One headstone was for a "newly born baby", and there was a another one, a girl who died not long after she was born; the dates of birth and death on the stone were 22nd July 1966, and well, *my* birthday's on the 22nd of July, so when I turned around and saw that stone.. well, it was mildly interesting. :)
Didn't have much time though... Only half an hour. Didn't have time to look at the walls on the right side of the memorial; was trying to find Lt Adnan Saidi's name, after we'd spent the morning at Bukit Chandu; the Bukit Chandu museum's quite a nice place, really. Also learned from there this morning that Kent Ridge is sort of a battle site. Which means that NUS is sitting on ground that should be commemorated, or have a memorial built on it, or something. :P
On a side note; went back to NUS after the trip, and found that the rest of the 25th MC had finished cleaning up the room; was hoping that they'd have at least a bit left that I could help with, but, oh well. The room looks LOVELY now, anyway. :D

I can shoot 18m! Haha... I can still hit red and yellow from 18m, YAY! And we're getting our own bows on Tuesday! Well, not "own bows" per se, but we're each being allocated our own bows, rather than sharing; that's all.
Might have to change my choice of fletch colours... coz blue and black don't look very nice with the purple jazz arrows, sadly. *sniffle*
Getting my glasses fixed tomorrow.. I have a bad feeling that they're pretty much unsalvageable; I might have to get a new frame. I'll miss this frame.. it's my first frame; I mean, it was the frame for my very first pair of glasses, and it's really light, but somehow I got it at a pretty low price, haha!
Oh well. We'll see about tomorrow...

So stupid. Always get myself into crap.
I got co-opted into MC, and I didn't even really know what was going on or what I was doing! I thought that only the cell heads were MC, but apparently, deputy is MC as well; so stupid of me.
And I thought Steven just wanted me for the cell, not as deputy head! I'm so blur... so dumb!
Argh. Whatever it is, I'm in MC now. And I didn't even want to run in the first place! My first sem is going to be disgustingly packed. I have no idea why the hell I'm suddenly being so "on"; must be all that repressed enthusiasm that I've been holding back for the past 12 years or something.
Anyway, am quite happy at the moment, coz I have four Tori Amos songs in my playlist; they're lovely. Oh, and I found Minstrel Boy too!! YAY!!!!!
Have to thank Sports Ball for late training tomorrow, haha... Shooting 18m tomorrow. Should be fun, although now my aiming will be damn off again... Start from scratch...

Sports Club AGM. Complete waste of time. The whole silly meeting was just like a long attendance-taking cum confirming-receival-of-annual-reports thing. I thought meetings were supposed to involve some kind of discussion, at least.
Stupid Sports Club.
I could have skipped that bloody thing today if it weren't for the need for at elast 75% attendance for each club, and I could've gone to get my glasses fixed! Argh.......
Yeah, the right arm of my glasses finally broke off last night, stupid dastardly thing.
And now I can't even go get it done tomorrow coz I have to go out with my O week OG for dinner! Damn it!!
Shall have to go around with silly wonky glasses all day tomorrow and I shall curse the stupid Sports Club for it. Wasting everyone's time, when everything that could have been done during the so-called meeting could have been done via an online session and email! Idiots.
Am in the middle of downloading music to compile a CD for "studying music". :D And I shall do another one for "bouncy music". Morning music. Things that you-- well, I mean, I-- can listen to in the morning without getting pissed off/irritated/cringey, and which makes me happy at the same time. I think I like compiling things. :D
And in other news, finally decided to accept Steven's "invitation" to join Publications cell... Well, I thought I was just gonna be a cell member, but apparently he wants me to be Deputy Head with Alvin.
I can foresee that working with him won't be easy. -_-
Anyway, I do want the exposure, and it shouldn't be too bad. At best, if I can do as much as I can in my first sem, that'd be better, I think. Although maybe not too much. :S
Speaking of which, I think I hear my Soci readings screaming my name.

Argh. I ache all over. This is absolutely rotten.
My legs ache, my stomach muscles ache (though I can't understand why), my arms hurt and my neck hurts and there's a slight sunburn on the left side of my neck! ARGH!!
2.4 km run yesterday... haven't done a serious run in almost a year! 2.4... what the hell. I hurt. Well, my legs hurt. I hate running.
Had team.. um, exercise? No, training; yeah, team training yesterday. Myself and Jianwu and Kenneth in one team, haha... Kenneth called ourselves the "Arts team".. :P
Went quite well, we got second place, coz Kenneth's finger tab went wonky. Got to see Charissa shoot! And her metal bow is really cute; it's red! With a pink (reddish-pink?? haha..) stabiliser; differnt from all the guys'-- not that the guys' bows aren't nice, haha. I like the ones with a blue marbly pattern. :)
They really are quite heavy, though. O.O
Oh, and I've finally got a new pencilcase! Bought it on Friday after my science GEM lecture; came out and saw this bazaar thing at the science foyer, and there was this lovely pencilcase with foam filling and blue and white stripes of varying thicknesses-- it's my ideal pencilcase!! It's lovely, fits all my stuff, and it's washable and it doesn't scream "absolutely, hideously girly"; isn't that wonderful?? :D

Have finally downloaded what is known affectionately to me as "Kok Leong's song". Haha. It's the song that he sang for all the freshies on SP night during Arts Camp, Clay Aiken's "Measure of a Man". Almost cried that first time I heard him sing it, and it still makes me wibbly now.
I'm just one big wibbler.
Central Library is a lovely place to study. Probably is even more so when there isn't construction going on downstairs or something and every ten or fifteen minutes or so the library sounds LIKE a construction site.
Song Kwang says that Aaron says that you can just come and book those little rooms early in the morning and you can then dump all your stuff in there. Shall try that one of these days. Tomorrow? Friday?
Steven is trying to recruit me into Publications cell.
"Are you good at writing?"
"Depends what kind of writing."
"Magazine kind of writing?"
I can see where this is going. And I'm still considering. I mean, being in two comms at the same time would look good on paper, but I'm still considering if it'd be too much work. It makes sense that Publications would be kinda slack, since the work would only come around when a publication's coming up, but I don't wanna bite off more than I can chew, y'know?
Archery training tmw. And I know what I want my arrows to look like! Silver shaft, blue fletches, and my principle fletches will be white! And if I have time, I'll write elvish in permanent ink on my arrow shafts; maybe something like "Fly straight and true". :D
And my seniors name their bows. I wanna name mine too... even if it'll just be an ordinary wooden one. :D Shall think of a name at a later date. :D
