We should appreciate the little things in life...

Like a slab of sweet corn ice-cream between two thin waffle biscuits, and Famous Amos cookies, and green apple-flavoured Mentos.

Went walking around Orchard with Khai Yee and Sandy today; Khai Yee left at around four plus, so Sandy and I walked around a bit more; and I found my ideal pencilcase!!

It's at 37 Degrees and it's blue with black netting over it..... It's perfect, and it costs $12.90. :D

I shall buy it next week; hopefully it doesn't run out of stock or something by then.... I always get jinxed at stuff like this. :P

Yeah, you'll realise that the blog looks different now....

That's coz while I was editing it yesterday morning, I deleted a whole lot of HTML code, and the blog was messed up, so I had to change the template!!

And this template, as compared to the nice blue one that I had, just absolutely sucks.

For goodness' sake, it's orange.

I have a strong aversion to orange.

Orange only looks nice on oranges.

Have band later today. Supposedly, it's a make-up practice for Wednesday, so that means that band prac is still as usual tomorrow.

Just had the geog concept map test during the last period.

Wasn't too bad, considering that I only studied for it this morning, haha. I know that I'll definitely get 20 outta 25. :D

Bored....can't wait to get the day over with. I'm planning to be very busy on Saturday; have to get in some revision for Monday's Geog test and some time to do essay questions for Geog and Econs.

Gonna have consultation next period, and later on in the day there's double GP (save us, whatever gods are out there). Actually looking forward to band coz I'll get to see all the band people....

But then again, a lot of people might not want to come. Sigh. Oh well....

Thursday. Extra geog class later.... gonna reach home at six.....

Thursdays are always long days.

Hm...not much happened today; John finally finished what he was writing in my autograph book- is that newsworthy? :P

Bored. Lalala.....

Have two bloody geog tests to study for tomorrow. Concept map test and the bloody retest....

Think I'll focus on the retest. I hate essays, so I don't wanna get another retest on that!

School always ruins my planning...I planned to go home and do some essay questions so that I could hand them up to Mr Low during consultation tomorrow, but now I can't....have to study for the bloody tests.

Ha.....have just thought of something rather amusing.

My class just found out today that Giselle's new phone is the Samsung one with a rotating camera lens. Gerri (not me, the other Gerri in my class) and Karen were going nuts over it.

I was the first one to figure out how to "flip" the picture when you turn the lens to face you. :D Giselle wouldn't tell anyone, see....but I didn't need help after all, did I? :D

Must've taken about 5 pictures on her phone. :P Well, all of them have Gerri and Karen in them. Only two of them include Giselle and me. :)

Lalala...bored.

Think I shall go edit my wish list. :)

Yesterday was the BEST birthday of my life!!!

Dawn messaged first thing in the morning to say happy birthday, then Pam and John messaged before the geog test, and then during the test, Beatrice and Josephine messaged me too!!

Man, I haven't seen Beatrice and Jo for about a year, and I don't even have their numbers and they still wished me happy birthday!! I feel like the most happy, lucky, wanted person on the planet....haha.

I didn't even know that people considered me that worth remembering!!

Haha. I learn something new everyday. Lol.

Hm, as for my wish list, I now have a Quiksilver wallet (it's blue with the QS logo on it in white) and my dad gave me $20 in the morning yesterday, which covers Wish No. 6: "Money". :D

The wallet's from Pam, Sylvia and John, and apparently, Khai Yee helped them pick it out; and Pam and Sylvia also got me a necklace (Perlini's Silver, of course; everyone loves Perlini's! Haha....) with a pendant.

I still can't really decide if the pendant looks like a star or a flower, coz it's like a five-pointed star with rounded edges...but when you consider that, it looks more like a flower. :P

John also offered to treat me to dinner at Marche... Was a bit strange for me at first, coz nobody's ever treated me or anything like that, and furthermore, Marche's stuff is really expensive! Er, but he explained later that in his sec sch, it's the norm for people to treat bday people. :D

I was so stuffed last night.... and John told me that he'd actually budgeted for more! .....If I ate anymore last night, I'd have burst. The pizza did it, I think....it was really quite large... :P

Got more presents today!! Khai Yee gave me three presents!

Okay, well, they're three little presents, not huge ones....haha.

There's a self-made keychain (of a small wooden blue fish), a tealight holder with my name in fabric paint on the side (:D), and sweets! Strawberries and cream Campino and toffees! Yum. :D

The whole J2 cohort has a GP mock test today after school, but I don't really care about that so much.....haha. :P

I was so happy the whole of yesterday, and I think the happiness has spilled over into today!! :D

Monday, July 21, 2003

Woohoo...the geog test isn't today for my class, since we don't have a tutorial with Mr Saw today. It's tomorrow.

And everyone who had their test today had the one on Malthusian theory.... Haha.

Big hint. Shall go home and bank on that. :P

Man, my classes end at 1.10 pm on Mondays now, since I've dropped Chinese; it's so cool! Ending at 1.10....I've never had my day end at 1.10 before! Lol.

Anyway, meeting a whole lotta band people later for Math study group.... Gonna be quite fun, I guess! :D

Have had about six hours of sleep, and guess what.... I'm back. Haha.

Damn it, what the hell am I doing online??? I have a bloody geog test tomorrow!!

Sigh......

I've just realised that ever since SYF, I've had a lot of stuff going around in my head. Seems like a really belated realisation, given that SYF was so long ago, but really...

Gold for SYF.....that was possibly the first thing in all my life that I ever wanted SO badly. And we got a Silver.

It's one thing to know that you've tried your best..... and it's a completely different issue when you realise that it's still not enough.

It's like the whole world watching you; watching the effort of what, a few months squeezed into eight minutes--

This is the end, the result, after we tried so hard; some of us really did bleed for it; for some of us it's the biggest thing we've ever done--

It's like taking a piece of graphite, add an enormous amount of pressure, and somehow it turns into a diamond...and we tried to cut it, polish it, make it shine all that much more, but when we presented it, we found that all anyone thought was that it wasn't all that much better than what it started out as.

This is all your effort's worth.

Silver.

Sometimes I hate this world.

Sometimes I hate the way people treat each other.

Sometimes I hate myself.
Have been too busy for the past few days to get online....but the past few days have been pretty eventful. :D

First off, Wednesday:

Band ended at 5.30 pm (only 3 hours of band!! That's gotta be a record; haha) so that those ppl who were going for the SYF Finals could get there and be seated by 7.00 pm.

The inside of the Esplanade is really cool. I mean, I've never before in my life seen a concert hall with FIVE levels of seating! Oh yeah, I got a circle seat; a very good circle seat too; practically sitting directly over the stage, so I had a very good view!

I didn't think much of the first two bands (except perhaps that they were pretty large).

I know that I don't like AC, but their rendition of Vesuvius was fantastic!!! Can't really remember what their second piece sounded like, but I guess it was really good too.

TJ was after that, and their percussionists (those who were free, that is)danced as they played Japanese Graffiti!

Seriously, as much as I dislike AC, I think they deserved to win more than RJ.

Oh well.... Life's like that, yeah? Just coz RJ have won twice consecutively, they figure that they've gotta give it to them again....

Thursday's happenings:

Racial Harmony day celebrations.

For the first time ever in my life, I actually wore one of those ethnic costumes for the day. :P

It was this green Punjabi suit that Pam lent me for the day; I changed out of it after GP though, since that was my last lesson of the day, so I was in school U for the geog extra class.

Friday...:

Finally got those DRQs from Mr Low.....he keeps forgetting to pass them to me!! It's like something straight out ot "The Absent-Minded Professor"; speaking of which, that film's really old. I can't even remember exactly when it was that I watched it.

Zapped the back half of the 2001 Lit Paper 8 A level paper too.

I can safely say that I've planned my weekend pretty packed. :)

Oh yeah, had RWS after school; we were about to leave when Mr Fahy came into the seminar room and kept us a little longer, talking about some stuff and reading a (rather confusing) passage out of St Anselm's "Proslogion".

While he was talking, I had this strange fear that the library people would lock up the library and forget about the handful of us in the seminar room!

And guess what....when we opened the door of the seminar room, it was dark outside; we were locked in. Haha.

Oh well, someone saw us (the library doors are glass, see) and went to get the OM. Meanwhile, I kept myself amused by shouting and talking very loudly to all the other members; they did the same too when they caught onto what I was doing. :)

You see, when's the next time you're going to be able to talk loudly and shout while you're in the library?? :D

Yes, so I'm lame and it was a worthless cheap thrill. I still think that it was once-in-a-lifetime experience. :D

Saturday:

Band today. When we were asked to go out for sectionals, Erlinda pointed out that the whole trombone section wasn't here. I corrected her and said that Sandy was present, so that meant that one trombone player had come! :P

Anyway, we went up to the fourth level for sectionals, and Sandy came up all by herself; I thought it wouldn't be very nice to leave her alone when there were what, about nine people nearby? Namely my section, that is.

So I went over to the J block, and Soon Aik followed; we were trying to figure out how to play each others' instruments (she was trying to play my clarinet and Soon Aik and I were trying to play her trombone) when she said that Wei Jian was here too, so she wasn't alone after all! Lol. :D

Oh yeah, I can play the concert B flat scale on the trombone up till the sixth note! :D Although on the first note, my air speed tends to be too fast and a different note comes out.

Lol. For the first time ever, my air speed is too fast..... In the past I was always told that it was too slow! On the clarinet, that is, for the higher register.

Blah blah blah....today was actually kinda slack since Alvin wasn't around....he had to go for the NDP preview. Haha.... :D

Today's PE was fun!!

We had a sorta obstacle course thing, and for the first time in my life, I found what you're supposed to do on the "suicide window". :P

But the fun part was that it started raining really heavily halfway through the lesson.

The obstacle course was up on a hill (well, just on higher ground, really) behind the science block, and to get up there at the beginning of the lesson, we had to run up the concrete slope beside a drain.

So, when it was raining, we slid down that slope instead!! Man, that was fun!! :D

And we ran all the way back to J block; I bet anyone who saw us then thought we were mad. :D

Well, let's just say that I hope we do this for next week's PE. :D And if it's raining, it'll be even more fun!

But I'll be bringing a change of clothes, just in case. :D

Youth Day celebrations today.

It's only 11.51 am now, and school's over! Haha...cool. :D

It's a bit spastic when the school makes the band and choir sit up there on the stage to perform only two songs (national and college anthem), but on the bright side, we probably get one of the best views when the teachers start their performance! :D

Yeah, and the best part of the teachers' performance this year had to be when that new teacher fell off the stage; that had to hurt. :D Anyway, the whole school was laughing; teenagers have a morbid sense of humour, yeah? :D

Okay, the most stupid thing was that the organiser forgot that we were supposed to play the college anthem, so yeah, we only played one song. Even more spastic.

Throughout the long prayer service, I wanted so badly to sleep, but clarinets are all in the first row, so that means, no, couldn't sleep, coz everyone could see us.

Man, just for that what, one hour, I wanted to be a brass player or something. Percussion all disappeared behind the curtains; since they were out of sight, they could talk or sleep or do whatever they wanted!!

Trumpet did the same... and halfway through the prayer service, I looked back and saw the whole trombone section sleeping.... I wanted to sleep!!!

Yeah, I could see that Xiaochuan was trying to stay awake....haha. :D

Okay, now I'm gonna go figure out what I'm gonna do with the rest of my day. I feel like some kind of delinquent. Haha. :D

There's band tomorrow, which means that we've sorta had band for four days in a row. Wednesday was official practice, Thursday was just playing for that rehearsal, today (Friday) we played for the real thing, and tomorrow will be official practice again....

Feels like a more slack version of pre-SYF days....seeing everyone everyday. :D

It was rather stressful, all the consecutive practices and everything, but I didn't really mind that; I like the band people, after all.

I sorta miss those days.

And I'm gonna be stepping down in about two weeks....it's gonna feel really weird once my Wednesdays and Saturdays are free.

B!!!! I got a B for Maths!!! YAY!!!!!!

Oh, well, I made quite a lot of careless mistakes; I could've gotten an A....

Damn, now I'm just depressing myself-- shut up, you stupid little girl.

Haha, anyway, I've made up my mind that my Math grade is probably gonna be the best grade that I'm gonna get for mid-yrs. I think I'm gonna fail all my As.... Excuse my French: F***.

Ah, but seriously, Maths was damn easy!! It was just this year's work, after all, and let's face it, Stats and Probablity and DRV are damn easy crap.

My Math teacher just told my class yesterday that Paper 2 would be all Stats and Probability, so.....

Let's just say that I've made up my mind to bank on Stats and such, and to improve my Perm and Com. :D

Haha....when I think about it, maybe that study session with John and Wei Jian had some use... does anyone think it helps for AO Maths if you study with Maths C people???

*Thinks for a bit*

Need to work on Trigo. My trigo sucks. Proving and all that crap....when I used it for calculation in sec sch it wasn't that bad, but proving....have to work on that. Especially equations.

Band yesterday was fun....Alvin was in a good mood. Going for the SYF finals next Wednesday; finally gonna get to see what the Esplanade looks like! From the inside, I mean. I've seen enough pictures of the exterior. :P

Speaking of band...Soon Aik lent me one photo of the trainees; it was taken last year, and none of the girls have changed; except for me, but the only change is that I've left my hair long.

By contrast, all the three guys have changed. :D

Oh yeah, speaking of the photos, I actually asked Wei Jian to bring some for me too; I went up to him before sectionals started.....

The minute he turned around and saw me, he went, "Oh s**t, I forgot, oh- _______"

Fill in the blank with your choice of expletives.... that includes the F-word too. Haha.

Err, I just laughed, really! I mean, it was such a violent reaction!

Haha....relax, it's okay, it's not like you forgot to bring something that determines your entire life!! :)

Okay...nothing else to write; today's gonna be pretty boring.

Four periods of Lit. Not back to back, of course. I'd die otherwise.

Double GP at the end of the day....not really looking forward to that, coz we're doing corrections for the latest compre that we got back. Ms Fernandez is bound to scold us for something......

After that, rehearsal for SC investiture at 5.00 PM....bloody hell, why can't it be earlier so I can be excused from classes?!?

Damn.

And if it starts at 5.00 PM, can you imagine what time we'll be leaving???

Crap....

I swear, every single day of my life, I just depress myself.

On the bright side....no school tomorrow! Only Youth Day celebrations! :D

Today's subject: yesterday's PE. :D

Yesterday's PE was fun! Probably the most fun PE lesson I've had in ages, haha.

Well, it was filthy, but fun. :D

Filthy, reason being that since NAPFA's over and everything, and my whole class passed, we now have nothing much to do. So, Isaac Lim decided to take our class on a bit of outdoor activity.... Got a bit worried when he said that.

He's not in charge of ODAC for nothing, after all. :P

Oh well, it turned out okay.... he suggested taking a trip through what he only referred to vaguely as "the drain".

We walked out to the main gate, and found that "the drain" was, well, a drain. Haha.

For all those CJ people reading this, you know that big drain right outside school? On the left side of the highway?

Yeah, he talked to us about going down that drain while we stood outside the gate.

Then he said, "But we're not going down this drain; we're going into this one!"

Uh, CJ people, for your info, the second drain that he's talking about is that storm drain right next to the main gate. If you ever walk out of the main gate, go over to the left and you'll see a grille with a small gate at the bottom. Behind that grille is the entrance to the storm drain; that circular entrance.

It was kinda funny in there....no one could see a single thing, and we were all walking with our feet against the sides so that we wouldn't step into the water directly below us!

Er, some people gave up and stepped in the water later, but Edison (who was put in front, since he's the only boy in the class, haha) was wading in the, uh...ankle deep water from the very beginning. :D

All of us came out with cobwebs in our hair.

I can see it now.... hair fashion of the season: "a la storm drain".

Cool. Haha. :P

Xuena even got a spider in her hair. Had to remove it for her. :D

Summary: everyone had fun, and Edison got to be the big strong man, clearing the way for all the girls.... :P

Not even really halfway through today yet, so not much to say about today.

Except that there's band later today, and I love the band people, so.... :D

Oh yeah, John won that chess competition earlier this year; he got his prize this morning. I found it a bit funny coz his class was mentioned as 2T22. Which doesn't exist anymore since it was dissolved (is that really the right word for it? Sounds odd) at the beginning of this year!

All right, I seem pretty sane today. So I'll leave you all on that note. :D

I'm back!

Man, it was nice seeing Kong Wen again after...what, a year?? Haha. :D

He's always so quiet; he's almost adorable. Haha. :D Poor thing, he was so hot, coz it was winter when he left Australia! :D

The psych books he passed to me were pretty heavy...

Just found the full-length Terminator 3 trailer; it's really cool!!

Man, I've been waiting what, 8 years for T3 after "T2: Judgment Day", and it's finally here! :D

Pamela pointed out to me on Saturday that some people who saw Episode Six of Star Wars probably waited ages for Episode One.... And after 20 years, some of them probably died without ever getting to see it.

Well, that's sad, but hey, I waited eight years and T3's here! I'm not gonna be like those people! Haha! :D

I should go add this to my wish list now. :D
Have to get changed in a few minutes... Going out to meet Kong Wen.

Kong Wen's another nice guy...haha. I seem to think a lot of guys are nice! :P

Anyway, he was with us in CJ for the first 4 months last year (I wasn't there for first 3 months, so I only knew him for a month! :P), then he flew off to Australia to do his foundation year.

He came back last year during his holidays and we tried to sneak him into all our lectures; it worked until Geog lecture... Mr Low realised that he didn't recognise him!

Haha.....I quote: "Vanessa, who's that boy sitting next to you??"

Haha. :D

Oh well...meeting him later coz he's passing me some psychology books that he brought back from Australia...like I said, he's a nice guy! :)

K, gonna go off now. :)

Just got back from IJ Carnival.

My feet are killing me!!!

This is what happens when you've been on your feet for about 5 hours....Good Lord.

But I had fun, though! Went to both my sisters' stalls; both were pretty good.

Holiday tomorrow. Youth Day.

Haha, Sylvia doesn't get a holiday coz she's in Poly.... :P

Okay, well, I'm tired, and my brain doesn't seem to be functioning...I guess I'll just go think about what I wanna do with my holiday tomorrow. :)

Friday, July 04, 2003

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!

Exams are over!!!!!

Yay!!!

Finally!!!!

All right, enough exclamation marks. :P

All the papers sucked.... only Maths today was really easy!!

GP was okay, I guess; so was Econs. Econs wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be.

Lit and Geog really sucked, though.

Ah well. Stuff like this happens in life, I guess.

Four months till A levels.

Hey, as long as I get good grades then, who cares about anything that happens in between? :D

Note to self: must study harder!!!
